Rant: Just say NO to tabs within tabs!

There are bad navigation choices, and then there is “tabs within tabs” or “TWIT”.
I can’t think of a less inspired solution to hierarchical navigation, and yet I encounter it all the time (guilty omitted). What exactly do I mean by TWIT?
Avoid TWIT at all costs!! In a future post I will describe some basic alternatives.
Can you explain why TWIT is so bad?
